We at Right Price are over the moon to announce that two new build developments we have been involved in won the ‘NHBC Pride in The Job awards 2022’.

For these excellent projects of 2-,3-,4-, and 5-bedroom homes in Tavistock and Exeter, we supplied cavity formers and composite doors, and manufactured and installed a wide range of PVCu bi-folding and French doors, as well as a variety of PVCu windows.

Windows and doors being crucial aspects of the assessment by the judges, ‘Pride in the Job’ gives new home owners reassurance of the quality of our products.

‘NHBC Pride In The Job’ awarded for fourth site!

By | Right Price Windows News | No Comments

Right Price is proud to have been a key contractor in four sites across Southwest UK, which have been awarded ‘NHBC Pride In The Job Award’. On all four site Right Price manufactured, supplied and fitted the quality windows and doors for hundreds of new build homes, to the highest possible standard – helping the sites achieve these prestigious awards.

This award recognises and celebrates the UK’s best practice and excellence in home building, providing a benchmark for exceptional sites. When assessing the sites, the judges look for consistency across all trades on site throughout the year, attention to detail to raise standards on site, technical expertise, good leadership and health and safety.

The judges look at aspects of the build, with windows and doors being a vital part of the assessment. The products are assessed for quality, and their ability to provide appropriate weather resistance. The windows and doors are also judged for the quality of installation and finish, and thoroughly checked that all items are installed to the correct specification and to a high standard of finish.

By conducting a detailed assessment of all aspects of construction, ‘Pride in the Job’ gives customers reassurance of the quality of their new build homes, and we are proud to be part of the team that has delivered this to happy customers once again.

Latest products pass PAS24 enhanced security test for 2022

By | Right Price Windows News | No Comments

We are delighted to have just passed another year of PAS24 Enhanced Security testing.

To become accredited, Right Price submits its products to an independent testing company, which is certified by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). This test not only assesses the quality of the product but also whether the manufacturing process meets the standards. Therefore, products are regularly re-tested.

The testing involves the measurement of the security performance of windows and doors, in order to guarantee that they are resistant against a specified level of attack from an opportunistic burglar. Therefore, the test is a stimulation of an attack.

The security test for windows involves the testing of the glazing frame, including the beads, and the glazing itself, which is conducted by the application of 200kg worth of pressure onto the corner of the windows by a mechanical infill machine. After that, the mechanical loading test assesses the window profiles with the use of 300kg of force, by mimicking the act of someone attempting to force open the windows by levering. To make sure the window has not been weakened by the pervious test, a 100kg hydraulic force is applied pressing against the frame. Lastly, to ensure all parts are examined, the windows are tested manually by an engineer who spends 15 minutes trying to break the window.

In case of the doors, the mechanical loading test involves the testing of the strength of the profiles and their locking systems against the action of someone trying to force open the doors with a force of 450kg for 30 seconds. Following this, a force of 100kg from the hydraulic press pushes against the tested doors to ensure they are not weakened.  This test is followed by a solid impact test which test the resistance of the doors by dropping a 30kg leather bag, filled with sand onto them. The hard impact test afterwards measures the resistance of individual elements of the doors using a 50kg metal battering ram. Just like the windows, the doors are also manually tested with the simulation of a break-in.

When it comes to the assessment of their weather resistance, the windows and doors are put into a pressure chamber which applies air pressure on them, stimulating wind pressure. To assess their water resistance, they are sprayed with water and checked for leakage.

How to clean PVCu windows & doors

By | Right Price Windows News | No Comments

Fortunately, PVCu windows and doors are very low maintenance, and even when they require some cleaning, the process is very simple and takes only 10 minutes.

For the cleaning you’ll need

  • A vacuum cleaner
  • Hot and soapy water
  • Clean water
  • Antibacterial solution in a spray bottle
  • Brush
  • Soft cloths

Start by cleaning the window and door frames.

  • Using a vacuum cleaner, vacuum around the frame, including all edges, grooves, and hinges to remove any accumulated dirt. Using the brush, sweep away any extra dust. With the use of warm, soapy water (for example, washing up liquid can be used) and a soft cloth, thoroughly wash down the frame, starting from the top, working your way down. Following this, with the use of clean water and a new cloth, wipe the frame down again. Lastly, with the use of a dry cloth this time, dry the frame in circular motions.

Continue with cleaning the window and door handles.

  • Using the antibacterial solution, preferably in a spray bottle, clean the handles regularly to get rid of unwanted germs and bacteria. If needed, dry the handles with a dry cloth.

And there you have it; new-looking PVCu windows and doors in only 2 steps.
