Top Hung
Top hung Standard friction hinges are installed to the sides of window sashes. This type of friction stay comes in lengths of 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 24 inches and have a stack height of 17mm.
Details of top opening window sizes:
- 8-inch hinges for a width of up to 400mm (opening angle of 80°)
- 10-inch hinges for a width of 400-600mm (opening angle of 85°)
- 12-inch hinges for windows with a width of 600-800mm (opening angle of 85°)
- 16-inch hinges for a width of 800-1000mm (opening angle of 60°)
- 20-inch hinges for a with a width of 1000-1200mm (opening angle 45°)
- 24-inch hinges for a width of 1200-1400mm (opening angle of 40°)
Side Hung
Another standard friction hinge type is side hung, which is fitted to the top and bottom of window sashes. These hinges are provided in 12- and 16-inch lengths. They have a stack height of 17mm.
- 12-inch hinges can be used for windows with a width of up to 650mm.
- 16-inch hinges can be used for windows with a width of up to 800mm.
They both provide an opening angle of 60°.
Egress easy clean and egress
We also provide 12- and 16-inch egress friction hinges, which can only be side hung. This option was introduced in compliance with fire escape regulations.
Egress easy clean friction hinges differ from the other types in its ability to be moved to the centre of the frame for easy and safe cleaning. This option can only be used for side hung windows and is provided in lengths of 12 and 16 inch. They have a stack height of 17mm.
- 12-inch hinges can be used for windows with a width of up to 650mm.
- 16-inch hinges can be used for windows with a width of 650-800mm.
They provide an opening angle of 90°.
Mega Egress
Our latest friction hinge option, Mega Egress, offers a perfect solution for large side hung casement windows.
They are available in length options of 220mm and 345mm, and are suitable for side hung windows of up to 600mm (maximum load of 33kg) and 900mm (maximum load of 40kg) sash widths respectively. They have a stack height of 17mm.
They provide an opening angle of 90°.
Heavy Duty
Especially suiting larger and heavier windows, such as triple and acoustic glazed, 24” (600mm) heavy duty top hung friction hinge provides a cost-effective solution. They can accommodate sash weights of up to 60kg and vent heights of up to 1500mm.
Tilt & Turn
The tilt and turn gearing system fully hides the pivot rests and stay bearings, providing invisible hardware elements. It is suitable for every sash weight up to 130kg. It provides a sash rebate width of 280-1400mm, and a rebate height of 280-2800mm.
This system provides a wide opening angle of up to 100°.
Restrictor Hinge
Restrictor hinges are provided in left- or right-hand side hung versions, and in lengths of 12 and 16 inch, restricting the opening position of windows to a maximum of 100mm for safety. They have a stack height of 17mm.
We offer a selection of restrictor hinges specifically for egress, egress easy clean and mega egress friction stay options.
Restrictor hinges are available for windows with a maximum width of 600mm.
Monkey Tail & Tear Drop Fixed Stays
Monkey tail and tear drop fixed stays are decorative items only (do not influence the function of the products). They add a classic finish to both right- and left-handed casement windows. They are available in white, gold, chrome, bronze, satin silver, and antique black colours.
These options are available with matching monkey tail and tear drop casement window handles.
